What not to wear

The biggest mistake people make is that clothes are too tight or too baggy. I would reccomend that people have others give them opinions on if it's too tight or too baggy.

How would you make a difference?

If I could create any sort of non-profit organization with clothing, I would make a various amount of things. I could get a team together to create things like blankets, clothing (warm and cool weather), pillows, and shoes like slippers. I would send this stuff everywhere. Including, children close to where we are and far. I would focus mostly on homeless children and kids in places like Africa that may not be as fortunate to have these types of things. To publicize this organization, I would start up a system of getting spare change from people. I would set up places that people could donate money for the supplies we would need to make these clothing and sleeping items.

Controversial ADs

ADs these days are way more provocative than they used to be. They used to be ADs far more appropriate for all ages. Now, parents have to hide their childrens' eyes in order to watch TV or read a magazine. Women are presented more as objects than as human beings. ADs talk and show off women far too much. For ADs involving men, it is way more covered-up and conservative. Womens' bodies even sometimes are changed into objects or they only show certain pieces of their bodies. ADs are now more sexual than ever.

Gender Roles

Fashion is considered more important because it is a way of expressing yourselves. Naturally men do not show their emotions or express themselves as much as women. There is also more emphasis on women’s clothing than men because that is how it has been for a long time. Even when women didn’t wear clothing to express themselves; it was for warmth and protection when they cooked and cleaned. The fashion industry revolves around mostly women for clothing design. I honestly cannot say that I know a specific reason for this. I think it is multiple reasons. Media, nature, life-styles, everything affects why this is the way it is. Christian Louboutin focuses on stylish heels and boots for specifically women. Betsey Johnson is also an only-women’s clothing designer. For only men clothing, there is Men’s Warehouse. Most only-men’s clothes designers are specifically for suits and fancy clothes, while for women there are for a bunch of different clothing choices. I would rather design clothing for women because I feel that there is more opportunities to design more than just one type of clothing. There are accessories, handbags, pants, dresses, shirts, lingerie, and so much more. For men there are mostly pants and shirts. I feel like most men do not worry about clothing as much as women. Clothing represents something different for each gender.

Beauty

My definition for beauty is natural. I do not believe that beauty is by the clothes you wear or the makeup you put on… it is your bare look. My own personal style varies. I can wear a classic look one day, a boho chic look the next, and then sweatpants. My look defines me as kind of careless and relaxed. Everyone has the days where they do not care how the look. Sweatpants, no makeup, and hair up. Does this mean they are not beautiful? I do not believe so. I think that people believe that beauty comes from how much a person spends on their outfits, what brand names they are wearing, and how high their heels are. I personally disagree. Just because someone is a celebrity does not automatically make them a beautiful person. Media makes people believe that they have to have certain criteria to be beautiful. Thin, expensive style, long hair, blue eyes, blonde hair, high heels, but really there is so many people and the world, and beauty cannot be defined as a specific way. Socio-economic status effects beauty because naturally people believe that the more money they have, the more popularity or “coolness” they gain. Beauty used to be the way I think it should be now. It never used to be about the clothing they wear or the makeup they wear. The clothes used to be meant for protection, and makeup was nonexistent. Rapidly fashion became way more for the need to be “beautiful”. Currently fashion trends consists of tribal, boho, classic, and “pretty”. I would change the use of the word “pretty” “beauty” “gorgeous”, and “accepted”. I do not think you need expensive clothes, the highest heels, the best makeup, and the thinnest body to be accepted. We all have “beauty” in our own individual ways, no matter how fat, thin, ugly, pretty, expensive, or cheap we are.
